Akiko Maeker, Ph.D. is Principal and Founding Owner at Interculturalist, LLC. She is an executive coach and a faculty member of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Qualifying Seminar that certifies IDI administrators. She is also an Emotional Intelligence and Diversity Institute certified trainer. Akiko holds a Ph.D.
from the University of Minnesota with her research focusing on the relationship between intercultural competence and professional coaching. Akiko works with clients in corporate, education, government, faith-based, and other not-for-profit sectors. She brings a strong knowledge base as well as dynamic facilitation skills, in engaging clients in thoughtful and affirming learning processes that aim to maximize potential. Born and raised in Japan, Akiko currently lives in Minnesota, USA with her husband and two teenage sons.
