Since Hank Aaron passed away, I have found myself reflecting often about why he was so important to me.

He was retired from baseball before I was even born, so I never got the privilege to see him play.

But I can read.

The mere fact that he got better than three thousand pieces of mail every day – most of them filled with hate in racist invective – and never grew bitter and angry – that speaks to a man’s character more than anything.

Here’s a solocast about what it means to live with strength of character.
